Steve Dickinson

Canadian singer songwriter Steve Dickinson grew up on a farm near Elsinore, Ontario listening to the artists Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, who were early influences on the sound present today.  With a writing/singing style often compared to Seger, Van Morrison, Mellancamp, Lee Roy Parnell and T. Graham Brown Steve has blended the demands of being a busy performer with the skill of being a serious songwriter with satisfying results.  His 1996 released CD “Blindside” gave the play-lists of many radio stations a boost and the release of videos for “Holdin Her” and “Too Late” from the “Live Harbour Night” CD keep the numerous Canadian and U.S television stations on top as well.  January 2000 saw the release of “Four Down” with the first single titled “The Invisible Man”, co-written with Craig Bignell and produced by Darren Walters receiving great reviews and being added to many more play-lists.

This four track CD is just a taste of the monumental hits yet to come from this polished, versatile performer.  The other tracks exhibit the best rockin’ country to be found with a truly beautiful ending called “Thinking of You” that gives you an idea of what the love of an entertainer goes through.  Once you hear these songs you will want to hear more, giving Steve the inspiration to get that next full length CD out there.

We had the chance to see Steve perform at the end of February at the O.C.P.F.A kick off party and no one could eclipse his spot.  If you get the chance to see Steve you really must take it.  With a solid band and the songs that speak from the heart you will be seeing one of the best performers you’ll see anywhere (and that includes South of the Border).  I find it astonishing that Canada, in particular Ontario, has so many incredible people willing to give us their heart and soul on stage and have had to fight to get the adulation that they deserve.  Steve Dickinson is one of those people whose time you know is coming.
