Joe is a veteran in the Ontario music circuit, having played with many artists and in many bands over the years. The fact that he is almost universally known as ‘Smilin’ Joe’ by those same people speaks volumes about the congeniality that he brings to events, along with his excellent pedal steel guitar playing. Displaying an encyclopedia like knowledge of country, and Canadian music in particular, Joe is fascinating to talk to for his insight and opinions of the evolution of the business. And if that weren’t enough, he spends many hours each week handling the musical direction of his church on top of playing with The Bareback Riders. There could be no other choice for “Music Director” of Opry North’s Country Music Showcases, in our opinion, than Joe Allain.
